Abbreviations
DS – Double stitch for German short rows (see Special Instructions: Double Stitches).
DS (double stitch): Bring the working yarn to the front, slip the next stitch purlwise, then pull the yarn firmly over the needle to the back until the stitch sits on the needle with two visible legs. This creates a double stitch (DS). When working the DS on a subsequent row, treat both legs as a single stitch, knitting them together on right-side rows and purling them together on wrong-side rows.

Rnd 1: P2, slip 1 purlwise with yarn in front (wyif) 5 times, P2.
Rnds 2–3: P2, K5, P2.
