Socks with Scandinavian patterns are very popular. They are decorated with traditional winter patterns – snowflakes, eight-pointed stars, fir branches and deer, they have long been considered attributes of New Year and Christmas holidays. Socks with Scandinavian patterns are knitted from thick wool. When knitting jacquard, two threads are used simultaneously. Socks, therefore, are especially dense, warm, and durable.

Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm and K 1 round with light grey green, at the same time dec 1-0-0 sts evenly = 55-66-66 sts.
Continue in knitting pattern 1 (KP1 = 11 sts) on all sts, at the same time on last round of KP 1 adjust no of sts to 56-64-64 sts.
Continue in knitting pattern 2 (KP2= 4 sts) on all sts, at the same time on last round of KP2 dec 2-4-4 sts evenly = 54-60-60 sts.
And now continue as follows: knitting pattern 3 (= 35 sts), knitting pattern 4A (= 6 sts) on the next 12-18-18 sts, finish with knitting pattern 4B (= 7 st).
Work 3 vertical repeats of knitting pattern 4 like this.

Work of knitting pattern 5 on heel sts for 5-5.5-6 cm.

Insert a marker in piece and now work heel decreases:
1 Row (= RS): Work row until 6-8-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K1, psso, turn piece.
2 Row (= WS): Work row until 6-8-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P1, psso, turn piece.

Foot lift wedge (gusset)
After heel dec pick up 12-14-14 sts each side of heel and slip the 35 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 68-74-74 sts. Continue in knitting pattern 3 on the 35 sts on upper foot and work knitting pattern 5 on sts under foot.
At the same time dec each side of sts on upper foot as follows/ K2 tog before knitting pattern 3 and K2 tog into back of loop after knitting pattern 3.
Repeat the dec on every other round a total of 5 times = 58-64-64 sts.

After 2 vertical repeats of knitting pattern 3 continue as follows: knitting pattern 6 (= 3 sts), knitting pattern 5 on the next 29 sts, knitting pattern 6, knitting pattern 5 on the next 23-29-29 sts.
Continue like this until piece measures 19-20-23 cm from marker on heel (= 3-4-4 cm remain).
