The pumpkin hat made of alpaca wool and mohair is well suited for walking in cold weather. Knitting a hat is very simple. Description is suitable for beginners craftsmen.
The hat is worked in rib, bottom up, using short circular needle/double pointed needles.
Size:
One-size
Fits head-size: 54/58 cm.
Materials:
- Drops«Alpaca»100 g (50 g., 167 m). Composition: 100% alpaca,
- Valeria di Roma «Mohair suave» 25 g (25 g, 215 m). Composition: 70% mohair, 30% polyamide.
Needles:
- Circular needle size 3mm: Length 40 cm
- Drops double pointed needles size 3
- The technique MAGIC LOOP can be used – you then only need circular needle of 80 cm in each size.

Knitting tension:
30 stitches in width and 35 rows in height with stocking stitch = 10 x 10 cm.
Note: Needle size is only a guide. If you get too many stitches on 10 cm, change to a larger needle size. If you get too few stitches on 10 cm, change to a smaller needle size.

Pumpkin hat with knitting needles
For the pumpkin hat сast on 120 stitches with short circular needle size 3 mm and 1 strand of Drops«Alpaca» and 1 strand of Valeria di Roma «Mohair suave» (= 2 strands). Work rib (knit 2, purl 2) in the round for 31 cm. Remember the knitting tension!
Now work A.1 over all stitches. When A.1 is finished in height there are 25 stitches. On the next round knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 13 stitches. Cut the strands and pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 41 cm. Fold up the bottom 10 cm.
Conduct wet-heat treatment.
