- Drops fabel: colour 109, dark pink — 50 g; colour 103, grey-blue — 50 g. Composition: 75% wool
- 25% polyamide. 50 g / 100 m
- Double pointed needles size 2.5 mm – or size needed to get 26 sts x 34 rows in stocking st = 10 x 10 cm.
Pattern instructions for knitting openwork striped socks with knitting needles
- Garter St (in the round on double pointed needles):* K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds.

Knitting tip
To get rib mid back on heel and to get 3 repetitions of A.1 mid-on top of foot the rib beg differently in the different sizes (i.e. 7-0-4 sts before marker mid back).

Cast on: In Multiples of 4 Stitches.
Knit in color A:
Row 1: knit all (Right Side)
Row 2: * K2, P2 * (Wrong Side) repeat pattern within * *

Openwork striped socks worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Loosely cast on 60-63-72 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel colour 109, dark pink.
Work 1 ridge in garter st – see explanation above.
Then insert a marker at beg of round and work as follows: Work pattern according to diagram A.1(= 9 sts) 6-7-8 times in total.
Note! In size 35/37 work 1 K st between every repetition of A.1.
Continue this pattern until 3 repetitions have been worked vertically, and piece measures 9 cm. Work 9 rounds with colour dark pink, 9 rounds with colour grey-blue, 9 rounds with colour dark pink.
On next round work in colour grey-blue as follows: Dec 1-0-1 st by K 2 tog at beg of round, continue in stocking st until 7-0-4 sts remain before marker – read knitting tip! There are now 59-63-71 sts on needle.
Then work as follows: K 1, * P 2, K 2 *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (= 3 times in total), stocking st over the next 3-5-9 sts, A.1 3 times in total (NOTE! The 1 K st between A.1 in size 35/37 is no longer worked), stocking st over the next 3-5-9 sts, * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* 2 more times (= 3 times in total), and finish with K 1.
Continue like this until piece measures 17 cm — 36 rounds. Work 9 rounds with colour grey-blue, 9 rounds with colour dark pink, 9 rounds with colour grey-blue, 9 rounds with colour dark pink.
Now keep the first 13 sts on needle, slip the next 33-37-45 sts on a stitch holder (= mid-on top of foot) and keep the last 13 sts on needle = 26 sts for heel.
Continue colour grey-blue rib back and forth over heel sts for 5-51⁄2-6 cm. Insert a marker and measure the piece from here.
Heel decrease
Row 1 (= RS): Work in stocking st until 7-7-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece.
Row 2 (= WS): Work in stocking st until 7-7-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece.
Row 3 (= RS): Work in stocking st until 6-6-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece.
Row 4 (= WS): Work in stocking st until 6-6-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece.
Continue dec like this by working stocking st with 1st less before each dec until there are 14-14-14 sts on needle.
After heel decrease, pick up 12-14-16 sts along each side of heel and slip the 33-37-45 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 71-79-91 sts. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 33-37-45 sts on top of foot.
Then work in stocking st and A.1 as before on top of foot and in stocking st under foot. At the same time dec in each side as follows: K the last 2 sts before the 33-37-45 sts on upper foot twisted tog (i.e. work in back loop instead of front) and K the first 2 sts after the 33-37-45 sts on top of foot tog.
Repeat dec every other round a total of 9-11-14 times = 53-57-63 sts.
Knit after decreasing the heel: 9 rounds with colour grey-blue, 9 rounds with colour dark pink, 9 rounds with colour grey-blue, 9 rounds with colour dark pink, 7 (9, 9) rounds with colour grey-blue, 0 (0, 4) rounds with colour dark pink.
Work until piece measures 18-19-21 cm from marker on heel.
Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 27-29-31 sts on top of foot and 26-28-32 sts under foot.
Continue working with colour dark pink in stocking st over all sts while at the same time dec for toes on each side of both markers. Dec as follows before 1 K st and marker: K 2 tog.
Dec as follows after marker and 1 K st: K 2 twisted tog. Continue dec like this in each side every other round 4-6-8 times in total and then every round 6-5-4 times = 13-13-15 sts remain on needle.
On next round work all sts tog 2 by 2. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten.
Left sock
Openwork striped socks worked in the round on double pointed needles.
Loosely cast on 60-63-72 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm with Fabel colour 103, grey-blue.
