Mittens and gloves

Mittens and gloves are considered a traditional winter clothing item that is worn on the hands to keep warm on cold days. They are most commonly knitted with warm yarn using knitting needles. It is better to choose natural woollen materials or fluffy fibres such as alpaca, mohair, or rabbit down to make mittens especially warm. Creating a warm accessory with a simple pattern does not require any special skills. All you need is a skein of yarn and a set of sock needles. To simplify the work, you can use a ready-made description and diagrams. It is easier to knit mittens with a regular “grandmother’s” thumb. Therefore, making them is suitable for novice crafters. It is more difficult to knit models with an anatomical thumb. Knitting an Indian wedge is suitable for experienced knitters. Some crafters decorate the back of mittens with complex patterns – cables or braids. Men’s models are usually knitted from neutral-coloured yarn using simpler patterns.
